Texas Rangers Down on the Farm 4/15-4/21

Rangers Prospects

This week was full of ups and downs across the entire Rangers organization. The Texas Rangers went 4-3 against the Detroit Tigers and the Atlanta Braves. The Round Rock Express went 2-4 against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. The Frisco RoughRiders went 1-5 against the Arkansas Travelers. The Hickory Crawdads went 2-3 with one game postponed against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. The Down East Wood Ducks went 4-1 against the Delmarva Shorebirds.

OF – Evan Carter – Texas Rangers

Evan Carter appeared in six of the seven games this week. He went 3-22 with two runs, two RBIs, zero walks, eight strikeouts, and one home run. It was announced after the game on Thursday, April 18th, that Evan Carter has graduated from MLB Pipeline’s Top 100. Thus, this will also be his final week on the Inside the Diamonds Top Ten Prospects.

OF – Wyatt Langford – Texas Rangers

Wyatt Langford appeared in six of the seven games this week. He went 4-23 with three runs, one RBI, two walks and eight strikeouts.

INF – Sebastian Walcott – Hickory Crawdads

Sebastian Walcott played in four of the Crawdads’ five games this week. The sixth game was postponed due to weather. He went 3-16 with two runs, four walks, and five strikeouts.

RHP – Brock Porter – Hickory Crawdads.

Brock Porter did not make his scheduled start this week. The game was postponed due to inclement weather.

INF – Justin Foscue – Texas Rangers

Justin Foscue remains on the 60-day injured list with an oblique injury sustained while swinging for his first Major League hit.

INF – Abimelec Ortiz – Frisco RoughRiders

Abimelec Ortiz appeared in five of the six games for the RoughRiders this week. He went 1-19 with three RBIs, one walk and two strikeouts.

INF – Davis Wendzel – Texas Rangers

Davis Wendzel appeared in two games with the Texas Rangers this week. He went 0-6 with one strikeout. Wendzel is still looking for his first Major League hit.

OF – Jonathan Ornelas – Round Rock Express

Jonathan Ornelas appeared in five of the six games with the Express this week. He went 5-20 with three RBIs, one walk, and three strikeouts.

RHP – Jack Leiter – Texas Rangers

Jack Leiter was called to join the Texas Rangers and made his Major League debut on April 18th, 2024. His MLB debut was rocky at best; he gave up seven earned runs on eight hits, issued three walks, and garnered three strikeouts in his 3.2 innings. He was optioned back down to the Round Rock Express on April 19th.

INF – Cameron Cauley – Hickory Crawdads

Cameron Cauley did not appear in any games for the Hickory Crawdads this week. The reason is unknown.
