Texas Rangers Down On The Farm 4/1-4/7

Rangers Prospects

The 2024 season is now in full swing! All five levels of the Texas Rangers organization are playing ball! This week, three of the top 10 prospects appeared in games for the Major League club, while three played for the AAA club, one for the AA club, and three for the High A club. The Rangers (6-3) faced the Tampa Bay Rays in Tampa before returning home to Globe Life Field to face their inter-division rivals, the Houston Astros. The Round Rock Express (5-4) spent the week in El Paso, Texas, facing off with the El Paso Chihuahuas. The Frisco RoughRiders (2-1) and the Hickory Crawdads (0-3) kicked off their season on the road on Friday, April 5th, against the Wichita Wind Surge and the Rome Emperors, respectively. The Down East Wood Ducks (3-0) hosted the Lynchburg Hillcats for their season home opener on Friday, April 5th.

OF – Evan Carter – Texas Rangers

Evan Carter appeared in five of the six games for the Rangers this week. He went 5-18, breaking his hitless streak, with three runs, no RBIs, three walks and two strikeouts. He is slashing .192/.400/.308 across eight games with six runs, five hits, three doubles, one RBI, eight walks, one stolen base, and three strikeouts.

OF – Wyatt Langford – Texas Rangers

Wyatt Langford appeared in all six games this week. He went 5-26 with two runs, two RBIs, one walk and six strikeouts. He is slashing .237/.286/.316 across nine games with three runs, nine hits, one double, one triple, five RBIs, three walks, one intentional walk, and nine strikeouts.

INF – Sebastian Walcott – Hickory Crawdads

Sebastian Walcott appeared in all three games the Crawdads played this week. He went 1-11 with four strikeouts. He is currently slashing .091/,091/.182 across three games.

RHP – Brock Porter – Hickory Crawdads.

Brock Porter pitched two innings in the game on Sunday, April 7th, giving up one earned run, one RBI, four walks, and two strikeouts. His current ERA is 4.50.

INF – Justin Foscue – Texas Rangers

Justin Foscue was called to the Big Show this week when Texas Ranger third baseman Josh Jung was struck by a pitch that fractured his wrist. He debuted at second base in the top of the 8th inning in the series opener with the Houston Astros. His first major league at-bat was a flyout to end the 8th inning. Justin Foscue made his second at-bat of his Major League career in the bottom of the 9th inning when he pinch-hit for Evan Carter on April 7th, coming up big with an RBI single off of Astros prized closer Josh Hader to score the first Rangers run of the game. He ended the week 1-2 with one RBI.

INF – Abimelec Ortiz – Frisco Rough Riders

Abimelec Ortiz appeared in all three games this season. He went 4-12 with three runs, three RBIs, two walks, and two strikeouts. He is slashing a .333/.429/.500 across the three games.

INF – Davis Wendzel – Round Rock Express

Davis Wendzel appeared in all six games for the Express this week. He went 9-19 with seven runs, seven RBIs, three walks, two home runs, and two strikeouts. He is slashing .314/.419/.657 with ten runs, eleven hits, three doubles, three home runs, eight RBIs, four walks, and four strikeouts across nine games.

OF – Jonathan Ornelas – Round Rock Express

Jonathan Ornelas appeared in five of the Express’s six games this week. He went 6-20 with five runs, two RBIs, one walk, and five strikeouts. He is slashing .344/.364/.531 with eight runs, eleven hits, one double, one triple, one home run, four RBIs, one walk, and seven strikeouts across eight games.

RHP – Jack Leiter – Round Rock Express

Jack Leiter pitched 3.1 innings on April 6th, allowing three hits, two runs, one earned, and three walks and garnering six strikeouts. Leiter has a W/L record of 1-0 in his two starts this season and an ERA of 3.24. He allowed five hits, four runs, three earned, one home run, three walks, and fifteen strikeouts across 8.1 innings.

INF – Cameron Cauley – Hickory Crawdads

Cameron Cauley has appeared in all three games so far this season. He went 1-12 with four strikeouts and is slashing .083/.083/.166 across the three games.
