Last night, the St. Louis Cardinals Triple-A affiliate, the Memphis Redbirds, faced the Milwaukee Brewers affiliate, the Nashville Sounds. The Cardinals’ third-ranked prospect and the 65th-ranked prospect in all of baseball had an unforgettable night at AutoZone Park in Memphis, Tennessee. He went 4-5 with four home runs and seven RBI in a 12-5 win over the Sounds. Part of what made it so special is that he did it on the three-year anniversary of his late father’s passing. Baez hit the first one in the bottom of the first, which was a three-run home run. The next one was a two-run home run, which came in the third inning. He hit the third one in the fifth inning and the fourth in the eighth inning, both of which were solo home runs. The best quote of the night came from the Memphis broadcast when it was said:
“He hit that one to the stars.” “He hit that one to his dad.”
