The St. Louis Cardinals will play the final two games of their series against the Philadelphia Phillies today after rain postponed the middle game. St. Louis is 9-2 in May and is riding a nine-game winning streak. They are averaging 4.6 runs per game while allowing 3.3 runs per game. Erick Fedde gets the ball in game one for St. Louis, and he will face Jesus Luzardo for the Phillies. In game two, Sonny Gray gets the ball for the Cardinals, and he faces Aaron Nola for Philadelphia. The rosters will expand to 27 for today’s doubleheader. The Cardinals are recalling right-handed pitcher Matt Svanson from Triple-A Memphis. In four games this season, he is posting a 3.18 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, and four strikeouts in 5.2 innings. In seven games at Triple-A, he posts a 4.35 ERA, a 1.65 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in 10.1 innings.

Svenson last season in his first season with the Cardinals made 53 appearances going 4-3 with a 2.69 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP, and 59 strikeouts in 63.2 innings. In 140 career games he is 19-10 with a 3.08 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and 242 strikeouts in 225.1 innings.
