St. Louis Cardinals Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The St. Louis Cardinals face the Kansas City Royals tonight as they start a three-game series. The series will be played on Thursday, Friday, and the finale will be on Sunday, with an off-day Saturday due to the World Cup in the Kansas City NFL stadium. Matthew Liberators gets the ball for the Cardinals as he’s 3-3 with a 4.71 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and 65 strikeouts in 70.2 innings. Noah Cameron gets the ball for the Royals whose 3-4 with a 4.11 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, and 64 strikeouts in 70 innings.

Cardinals Roster Move

The Cardinals today selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Max Rajcic from the Memphis Redbirds. To make room for Rajcic on the 40-man roster, they designated right-handed pitcher Chris Roycroft for assignment. They originally this morning optioned Roycroft to Triple-A Memphis but had to DFA him for Rajcic.

Rajcic, in 26 appearances with one of those coming as a start, is 4-2. He has a 2.88 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, and 46 strikeouts in 40.2 innings. In four seasons in the Cardinals system, he’s made 101 appearances with 75 of those coming as starts. He is 26-26 with a 3.81 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, and 400 strikeouts in 413 innings. Roycroft, in seven appearances with St. Louis, has a 15.19 ERA, a 3.93 WHIP, and four strikeouts in 5.1 innings. In 23 games at Memphis, he’s 0-2 with a 5.84 ERA, a 1.58 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts in 24.2 innings. He has made 54 big league appearances with the Cardinals, going 2-5. Roycroft has a 6.41 ERA, a 1.77 WHIP, and 52 strikeouts in 60.1 innings. In 159 career games in the Cardinals minor league system, he’s 15-18 with a 4.63 ERA, a 1.58 WHIP, and 212 innings.
