Wyatt Langford was born in Gainesville, Florida, on November 15, 2001. He played high school baseball at Trenton High School in Trenton, FL. He was the third-ranked baseman and the 31st overall player in Florida.

Langford had his best season in his junior year when he hit .438 with 28 hits, six doubles, three triples, five home runs, 34 RBI, and 31 runs scored. In high school, he played in 107 games and hit .394 with 124 hits, 27 doubles, nine triples, 13 home runs, 114 RBIs, and 105 runs scored.

Langford jumped right into the top 100 on MLB.com, ranking 13th. He played for four levels in the Rangers organization after being drafted, starting at rookie ball, then going to High-A Hickory, Double-A Frisco, and finally reaching Triple-A Round Rock. He slashed .360/.480/.677 with a 1.157 OPS; he had 17 doubles, two triples, ten home runs, 30 RBI, 36 runs scored, 12 stolen bases, and 36 walks. He wasted no time, with his lowest average being .333 at High-A.

Future

ITD ranks Langford as the Rangers’ second-ranked prospect and the 14th overall prospect entering 2024. Langford is expected to make his debut in 2025, but after his quick start in the minors, he may force the Rangers hand to have him debut in 2024 if he does not crack the roster after Spring Training.
