Tyler Black was born in Toronto, Ontario, on July 26, 2000. He played high school baseball at St. Andrew’s College High School in Aurora, ON. He was the third-ranked shortstop and the 28th-ranked overall player in Ontario. Black also played three years of football and AAA hockey. Black was ranked the 579th shortstop nationally and in the 1000 for overall players. He committed to play college baseball at Wright State University.

Last season he played at Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville and in 123 games he slashed .284/.417/.513 with a .930 OPS; he had 25 doubles, 12 triples, 18 home runs, 73 RBI, 105 runs scored, 55 stolen bases, and 88 walks.

ITD ranks Black as the 46th overall prospect and the Brewers fourth-ranked prospect. He is expected to start the season at Triple-A in 2024.
