Jackson Jobe was born in Irving, Texas, on July 30, 2002. He played high school baseball at Heritage Hall School in Oklahoma City, OK. He was the first-ranked high school pitcher in Oklahoma and the fourth-ranked pitcher in the country in 2021.
In his junior year, he appeared in one game and went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and one strikeout. In his senior year, he pitched 51.2 innings, going 9-0 with a 0.14 ERA and 122 strikeouts.
He finished his high school career pitching 52.2 innings and struck out 123 batters, allowing only one earned run to finish his high school career with a 0.13 ERA. Jobe was committed to playing college baseball at the University of Mississippi.

Jobe entered the draft as the seventh-ranked prospect and would be drafted third overall in the 2021 draft by the Detroit Tigers. He decided to forgo his commitment to the University of Mississippi and signed with the Tigers.

Jobe was ranked 83rd by Baseball American and 63rd by MLB.com entering the season. He pitched across four levels at rookie ball, Single-A Lakeland, High-A West Michigan, and Double-A Erie. He made 16 starts, going 2-4 with a 2.81 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, a 1.3 HR/9, a 0.8 BB/9, and an 11.8 K/9. He also pitched in the Arizona Fall League, making four starts, going 3-1 with a 2.87 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, a 1.1 HR/9, a 2.9 BB/9, and a 10.9 K/9.

ITD ranks Jobe as the Tigers’ second-ranked prospect and the 61st overall prospect entering 2024. Jobe is not expected to debut until 2025 but could be a part of the team at Spring Training, and should start the season at Double-A and could very well reach Triple-A in 2024.
