The Detroit Tigers starting a three-game series with the Kansas City Royals tonight. The Tigers have won four-straight games most recently sweeping the San Francisco Giants. They are averaging 3.8 runs per game during their winning streak while allowing 1.3 runs per game.

The Tigers are calling up right-handed pitcher Dylan Smith from Triple-A Toledo. The corresponding move has been reported as right-handed pitcher Jackson Jobe being placed on the injured list. Jobe has a right elbow flexor strain. Smith this season in 14 games is 1-1 with a 1.61 ERA, a 0.76 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts in 22.1 innings. Jobe’s velocity was down in his last start but this season he is 4-1 with a 4.22 ERA, a 1.49 WHIP, and 39 strikeouts in 49 innings. The Tigers also claimed right-handed reliever Ryan Cusick off waivers from the Athletics. In 13 games at Triple-A this season, he is 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA, a 1.91 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 14.2 innings.

Dylan Smith

Smith is 14 games with 13 of those coming as starts last season went 0-5. He posted a 4.40 ERA, a 1.55 WHIP, and 59 strikeouts in 57.1 innings. In four minor league seasons with the Tigers he’s made 62 appearances with 45 of those coming as starts. Smith is 10-14 with a 3.99 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 218 strikeouts in 205.1 innings.

Jackson Jobe

Jobe last season in two games didn’t allow an earned run, he allowed one hit. He walked one and struck out two in four innings. In 21 minor league starts last season he went 5-3 with a 2.36 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP, and 96 strikeouts in 91.2 innings.
