Garrett Crochet was born in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, on June 21, 1999. He played high school baseball at Ocean Springs in Ocean Springs, MS. He was the second-ranked left-handed pitcher in Mississippi and the 316th nationally ranked left-handed pitcher. He ranked as the 21st overall player in Mississippi and in the top 1000 in the country. At Ocean Spring, he played outfield and pitched. He hit .214 his senior year with two doubles, a home run, 13 RBI, and ten runs scored. On the mound, he went 9-4 in his high school career with a 1.18 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, and 101 strikeouts. In his senior season, he made 14 appearances, going 6-4 with a save, a 1.48 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and 76 strikeouts in 61.1 innings. He committed to play college baseball at Tennessee.

Crochet,Ch in his first season at Tennessee, appeared in 17 games, with six of them coming as starts. He was 5-6 with a 5.51 ERA, a 1.48 WHIP, and 62 strikeouts in 63.2 innings. In year two, he made 18 appearances with six of those coming as starts, going 5-3 with a 4.02 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP, and 81 strikeouts in 65 innings. His final college season was cut short due to COVID. He made one start, going 3.1 shutout innings, giving up two hits; he didn’t issue a walk and struck out six.

2020

Crochet jumped right to the big leagues, appearing in five games. He pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits. Crochet didn’t issue a walk and struck out eight in that season.

2021

Crochet entered the season as the 74th overall prospect by Baseball America and 56th by MLB Pipeline. He was back with the White Sox, pitching out of the bullpen, making 54 appearances. He went 3-5 with a 2.82 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, and 65 strikeouts in 54.1 innings.

2022

Crochet missed the season as he underwent Tommy John surgery.

2023

He pitched in the minor as he worked his way back from Tommy John. He pitched at Double-A Birmingham making six appearances posting a 6.00 ERA, a 1.67 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in six innings. In six appearances at Triple-A Charlotte he didn’t record a decision posting a 2.84 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in 6.1 innings. He appeared in 13 games with the White Sox going 0-2 with a 3.55 ERA, a 1.97 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts in 12.2 innings.

2024

Crochet made the move from the bullpen to the starting rotation for Chicago. He made 32 starts, going 6-12 with a 3.58 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and 209 strikeouts in 146 innings.

2025

Crochet was traded to the Boston Red Sox, who extended him to a six-year, $170 million contract.
