Druw Jones was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 28, 2003; he is the son of former MLB player Andruw Jones. He played high school baseball at Wesleyan School in Peachtree Corners, GA. He was the number one-ranked outfielder and the top-ranked overall player in Georgia. At Wesleyan, he was the 2021 Baseball Player of the Year by the Gwinnett Daily Post when he hit .445 with 16 home runs and 39 RBI. His senior year he hit .570 with 13 home runs, 39 RBI, 72 runs scored, 32 stolen bases, and 33 walks. Jones was ranked the second outfielder in the country and the second overall player. He committed to play college baseball at Vanderbilt University.

Jones was ranked the 24th overall prospect by Baseball America and 15th by MLB.com. He played for both Diamondbacks rookie league teams and Single-A Visalia. He played in 41 games and slashed .238/.353/.327 with a .679 OPS; he had three doubles, two triples, two home runs, 12 RBI, 28 runs scored, nine stolen bases, and 26 walks.
