Pittsburgh Pirates Linked to Bat

The Pittsburgh Pirates are staying active today. Earlier they signed a veteran outfielder in Michael A. Taylor and now they added Domino German to a one-year $1.5 million contract. The Pirates today beat the New York Yankees 6-2. Tomorrow they will play a split-squad game taking on the Detroit Tigers at 4:05 PM while the other half of their roster will face the Atlanta Braves. Against the Tigers Mitch Keller will take the mound making his fourth start of the spring, he is 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA, a 1.75 WHIP, and five strikeouts in eight innings of work. In the game against the Braves Jared Jones who is the Pirates third-ranked prospect and the 61st overall prospect, he is making his fifth appearance and only his second start, he posts a 0.00 ERA, a 0.82 WHIP, and six strikeouts in 7.1 innings.

Domingo German By The Numbers

German spent the first six seasons of his MLB career with the New York Yankees. He made his debut on June 11, 2017, against the Baltimore Orioles in a relief appearance going 2.2 innings, he didn’t allow a run or a hit but walked one and struck out one. He made his first start on May 6, 2018, against the Cleveland Guardians going six innings, he didn’t allow a hit or a run and walked two and struck out nine. In his career, he has made 112 appearances with 89 of them being starts and he went 31-28 with a 4.41 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and 543 strikeouts in 522.1 innings. In 2023 he went 5-7 with a 4.56 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and 114 strikeouts in 108.2 innings; he also threw a perfect game on June 28th against the A’s striking out nine.
