Philadelphia Phillies Down on the Farm 5/13-5/19

The Philadelphia Phillies Triple-A affiliate the Lehigh Valley IronPigs took on the Norfolk Tides and split the six games.  Their Double-A affiliate the Reading Fightin Phils took on the Richmond Flying Squirrels and dropped five of their six games. The Phillies High-A affiliate the Jersey Shore BlueClaws took two of six against Hudson Valley. The Single-A affiliate Clearwater took five of six against the Daytona Tortugas.

Philadelphia Phillies Top 10 Prospects Check-In

RHP – Andrew Painter – Reading Fightin Phils

Painter is on the 60-day injured list as he underwent Tommy John surgery and will miss the season.

RHP – Mick Abel – Lehigh Valley IronPigs

Abel got the ball on Friday suffering the loss as he went six innings giving up three runs on five hits; he walked five and struck out six. He is 1-3 this season with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.68 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts in 33.1 innings.

3B – Aidan Miller – Clearwater Threshers

Miller last week went 3-12 with two doubles, one RBI, three runs scored, and five walks. This season he is hitting .326 with a .983 OPS; he has four home runs, 17 RBI, and 18 runs scored.

SS – Justin Crawford – Jersey Shore BlueClaws

Crawford last week went 2-22 with a double, and two runs scored. He is hitting .270 with a .678 OPS; he has two home runs, 12 RBI, and 20 runs scored.

RHP – Orion Kerkering – Philadelphia Phillies

Kerkering pitched in three games last week going three innings giving up one run on three hits; he hit a batter, didn’t issue a walk, and struck out five. With Triple-A he appeared in four games going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, a 0.46 WHIP, and ten strikeouts in 4.1 innings. With the Phillies, he’s appeared in 13 games going 1-0 with a 1.98 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in 13.2 innings.

SS – Bryan Rincon – Jersey Shore BlueClaws

Rincon last week went 4-19 with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI, six runs scored, a walk, and two stolen bases. This season he is hitting .204 with a .699 OPS; he has two home runs, 14 RBI, and 22 runs scored.

RHP – Griff McGarry – Lehigh Valley IronPigs

McGarry pitched on Thursday and Saturday. On Thursday he went one shutout innings, he didn’t allow a hit, he walked two and struck out one. On Saturday he went one inning giving up a run without allowing a hit; he walked four and struck out one. This season he is 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA, a 1.64 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 17.2 innings.

SS – Devin Saltiban – Clearwater Threshers

Saltiban went 6-19 with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI, five runs scored, two walks, and three stolen bases last week. He is hitting .218 with a .692 OPS; he has four home runs, 13 RBI, and 18 runs scored this season.

SS – Starlyn Caba – FCL Phillies

Caba last week in four games went 4-14 with a double, three RBI, a run scored, three walks, and a stolen base. He is hitting .303 with a .937 OPS; he has one home run, five RBI, and five runs scored.

OF – Gabriel Rincones Jr. – Reading Fightin Phils
