Minnesota Twins Roster Moves 7/12

Twins Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Twins enter play tonight with a 53-40 record good enough for second place in the American League Central. They are coming off a series win against the Chicago White Sox and will now head to San Francisco to face the Giants for three games before hitting the All-Star break. The Twins currently hold the second wild card spot and have won eight of their last twelve games. Before the first game of the series with the Giants they have announced two roster moves.

2B – Kyle Farmer

The Twins have placed Farmer on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder strain retroactive to July 11th. Farmer has played in 63 games so far this season for the Twins. He has 132 at-bats with 15 runs scored, 25 hits, 10 doubles, 15 RBIs, 13 walks, 31 strikeouts, and three stolen bases. He is currently slashing .189/.291/.265 with a .556 OPS on the year.

C – Jair Camargo

The Twins have recalled the catcher from Triple-A St. Paul Saints. Camargo has played in two games with the Twins already this year scoring one run on one walk and two strikeouts. In the Triple-A this year he has played in 33 games with 130 at-bats. He has 15 runs scored, 28 hits, eight doubles, one triple, six home runs, 27 RBIs, nine walks, 42 strikeouts, and one stolen base. He is currently slashing .215/.277/.431 with a .708 OPS with St. Paul.

Overview:

The Twins are playing well of late with eight wins in the last twelve games they hope to carry the momentum into San Francisco and win the last series before the end of the first half. The Twins offense has been hot as of late and Farmer has been struggling at the dish so having him hit the injured list is not ideal, in the overall big picture it should not have a huge impact on the team, and with the break, he should be back before we know it. If the Twins can win this last series, they will be setting themselves up for a run at the division in the second half which should be fun to watch as Twins fans!
