MLB Game Recap
Milwaukee secured a 2-1 win on Wednesday despite being held hitless through seven innings by Cardinals starter Dustin May. Starter Chad Patrick threw 61 pitches over 4.0 innings, allowing five hits and one earned run while striking out four (4.0 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 4 K). The game turned in the eighth. Garrett Mitchell doubled to break the no-hit bid. His hit led to a Christian Yelich RBI single. Sal Frelick scored the go-ahead run on a Masyn Winn fielding error.
Standout Performer
Reliever Aaron Ashby earned the win to improve to a major-league-leading 9-0 record. Ashby dominated over 2.0 innings of work, yielding just one hit and one walk while recording two strikeouts (2.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K, 30 pitches). He did not allow any runs in the sixth and seventh innings. This kept the deficit at a single run. It allowed the offense to rally in the eighth eventually.
