Masyn Winn Leaves Game Against Phillies

The St. Louis Cardinals started their home stand tonight. They will be home for the next six games. Tonight they started a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Their starting shortstop Masyn Winn left the game tonight. He is dealing with lower back spasms. Thomas Saggese moved to shortstop, Pedro Pages moved to second base, and Yohel Pozo is in at catcher for the Cardinals. In 12 games this season he’s hitting .222 with a .603 OPS. He has a home run, three RBI, eight runs scored, and five walks. The Cardinals already made a bullpen move ahead of tonight’s game. Hopefully this isn’t serious more moves may be on the horizon for the Cardinals.

Masyn Winn 

The Cardinals drafted Winn in the second round of the 2020 draft. In 199 career games, he’s hitting .222 with a .679 OPS. He has 34 doubles, five triples, 18 home runs, 72 RBI, 101 runs scored, 13 stolen bases, and 56 walks. Winn more so known for his glove posts a .974 career fielding percentage. He hasn’t allowed an error this season. Last season he posted a .971 fielding percentage. Winn recorded 191 putouts and 402 assists. He committed 18 errors last season. Winn is a key defensive piece for the Cardinals this season if they’d like to turn things around.
