Kansas City Royals Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Kansas City Royals enter play today ten games above five hundred with a 40-30 record after 70 games this season. They sit in second place in the American League Central behind the Cleveland Guardians by five games. The Royals are coming off a four-game series with the New York Yankees, where they lost three of four against the Yankees. They now head out west for a three game series agaisnt the Los Angeles Dodgers. Before the first game of the series with the Dodgers the Royals have announced three roster moves.

2B – Adam Frazier

The Royals have activated Frazier from the bereavement list today. Frazier has played in 50 games this year with 129 at-bats for the Royals. He has 16 runs scored, 29 hits, six doubles, two home runs, 10 RBIs, 15 walks, 25 strikeouts, and two stolen bases. He has slugged .235/.320/.318 with a .638 OPS on the year.

1B – Nick Pratto

The Royals have optioned Pratto to Triple-A to play for the Omaha Strom Chasers. Since being called up on June 11th, Pratto has yet to see the field and is headed back to Triple-A. He has 34 runs scored, 48 hits, eight doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 30 RBIs, 27 walks, 67 strikeouts, and nine stolen bases. He is slugging .234/.321/.385 with a .706 OPS on the year in Triple-A.

C – Logan Porter

The Royals traded with the San Fransico Giants today sending Porter to the Giants for Cash. Porter was playing with Omaha Strom Chasers in Triple-A ahead of the trade. He has now been assigned to the Sacramento River Cats for the San Fransico Giants. While with the Strom Chasers he played in 32 games with 113 at-bats. He has 22 runs scored, 36 hits, nine doubles, one triple, six home runs, 22 RBIs, 22 walks, 34 strikeouts, and one stolen base. He slugged .319/.428/.575 with a 1.003 OPS with the Storm Chasers.

Wrap Up:

The Royals are coming off a tough series with the New York Yankees and have just as tough of a test in the Los Angeles Dodgers this weekend. The Royals trading Porter for Cash may not seem like a big deal or one of much importance, but with the Trade Deadline approaching, could this cash be used when looking to aquire another bat or bullpen arm? The return of Frazier is a good thing given his veteran prescence for this young club. This three game set with the Dodgers will be a challenge, and if they can manage a series win it will set them up for the series that follows against the Oakland A’s.
