Jhoan Duran Carted Off

Jhoan Duran Carted Off

The Philadelphia Phillies currently lead tonight’s second game in their series against the Washington Nationals, who saw their closer carted off. Jhoan Duran came into the game with the Phillies up 6-2. He took a line drive off his foot/ankle from Paul DeJong and left the game in the bullpen cart. David Robertson came in to replace him. Duran faced only one batter in the game. He made his fifth appearance for the Phillies tonight after being acquired from the Twins at the trade deadline. Duran has yet to allow an earned run unless DeJong scores in this game. He has four saves and is posting a 0.50 WHIP and three strikeouts in four innings.

Duran has appeared in 227 career big league games. He is 17-23 with 78 saves. Duran posts a 2.42 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and 295 strikeouts in 237.2 innings. Duran, with his intro music, has brought a different environment to Citizens Bank Park for every Phillies game. The electric closer in 2025 between the two teams has made 54 appearances, going 6-4. He has 20 saves with a 1.86 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP, and 56 strikeouts in 49.1 innings. His career high in saves in a season is 27. If he’s out for a significant amount of time, it’s a huge blow to the Phillies’ bullpen.
