
The Red Sox dropped the series finale to the Yankees 4-2 this evening and were swept by New York. Peyton Tolle struck out a career high 11 batters. The left allowed three hits and one run over six innings while walking one.
A double by Marcelo Mayer to bring home Trevor Story put the Red Sox on the board in the bottom of the second. Jazz Chisholm Jr homered, which helped the Yankees tie the game at one in the top of the fifth.
Boston took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Carlos Narváez hit a solo home run to make it 2-1, Red Sox. New York came right back after Tolle left the game. They took the lead and led 4-2 at the top of the seventh due to singles by Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge. Bellinger’s single gave them the lead as he drove in two.
Walpol native Cam Schlittler earned the win for New York. The righty allowed four hits and two runs, one earned, over eight innings, striking out five and walking one. Danny Coulombe took the loss for Boston. The reliever went two-thirds of an inning, giving up three runs on three hits, striking out two, and walking none. David Bednar earned the save.
Player of the Game
Jazz Chisholm Jr went 2-4 at the plate, hitting his solo home run. He also scored on Bellinger’s single, which was the winning run tonight.
