Game Recap: Rafaela’s Big Night & Bello Lead Red Sox to Win in Middle Game Against Tigers

The Red Sox secured a series win tonight with a 10-3 victory over the Tigers.

Ceddanne Rafaela drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Red Sox. Rafaela hit a home run to right field in the first inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the third inning, scoring one. Boston got on the board in the first inning after Rafaela hit a three-run home run. Boston added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Rafaela singled, Andruw Monasterio singled, Caleb Durbin singled, Connor Wong singled, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run. The Red Sox added to their lead with two runs in the top of the fourth inning thanks to home runs by Willson Contreras and Wilyer Abreu.

Brayan Bello earned the win for the Red Sox. The righty surrendered four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. Framber Valdez took the loss for Detroit. The southpaw went three innings, surrendering ten runs, seven earned on nine hits, striking out three and walking one. Jovani Morán was the opener for the Red Sox. He allowed three hits and two runs over one inning, striking out three and walking two.

Player of the Game

Ceddanne Rafaela contributed to four of the Red Sox’s ten runs. He finished the game 3-4 with his three-run home run in the first, and an RBI single. He scored two runs in the game as well.
