The Red Sox took the middle game of their three-game series with the Phillies tonight. The victory comes thanks to a two-run pinch-hit home run by Ceddanne Rafaela.

Both teams were strong on the mound tonight. Sonny Gray started the game for the Boston Red Sox and went six innings.

A solo home run by Trevor Story put the Red Sox on the board in the bottom of the second. Justin Crawford homered to tie the game at one and was the Phillies’ lone run.

Gray earned the win for Boston. The righty gave up two hits and one run over six innings. He struck out six and walked one. Tanner Banks took the loss for the Phillies. The lefty went two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run on one hit, striking out one and walking none. Andrew Painter got the start for the Phillies. The righty surrendered four hits and one run over five innings, striking out four and walking none. Things got a little dicey in the ninth, but Aroldis Chapman shut the door and picked up his ninth save. Garrett Whitlock and Justin Slaten each came on in relief for Boston and shut down the Phillies.
