Eastern League August Recap

The Eastern League is hitting the final month of the season as the playoffs will start in the middle of this month and there is a heated race for the final two playoff spots.

The Top Prospects

6.) C – Samuel Basallo – Bowie Baysox

Basallo in August hit .337 with a .924 OPS; he had seven doubles, four home runs, 18 RBI, 15 runs scored, two stolen bases, and ten walks. This season he is hitting .286 with a .813 OPS; he has 17 home runs, 58 RBI, and 60 runs scored.

10.) RHP – Jackson Jobe – Erie SeaWolves

Jobe made six starts in August going 1-1 with a 2.86 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts in 28.1 innings. This season at Erie he’s made 15 starts going 3-2 with a 2.03 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and 73 strikeouts in 66.2 innings.

13.) OF – Roman Anthony – Portland Sea Dogs

Anthony got called up to Triple-A Worcester but he finished August playing nine games with Portland hitting .375 with two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, 12 runs scored, five walks, and three stolen bases. He wrapped up his time at Double-A hitting .269 with a .856 OPS; he had 20 doubles, three triples, 15 home runs, 45 RBI, 60 runs scored, 48 walks, and 16 stolen bases.

21.) RHP – Chase Dollander – Hartford Yard Goats

Dollander made five starts for Hartford going 2-0 with a 0.92 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts in 29.1 innings. At Hartford this season he’s made seven starts going 2-0 with a 1.43 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, and 48 strikeouts in 37.2 innings.

25.) C – Kyle Teel – Portland Sea Dogs

Teel also was called up to Triple-A Worcester. He played in eight games in August at Portland hitting .333 with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI, six runs scored, six walks, and two stolen bases. He finished his time at Portland hitting .298 with a .852 OPS; he had 20 doubles, 11 home runs, 60 RBI, 65 runs scored, 48 walks, and nine stolen bases.

34.) RHP – Andrew Painter – Reading Fightin Phils

Painter is done for the season recovering from Tommy John.

38.) RHP – Brandon Sproat – Binghamton Rumble Ponies

Sproat got promoted to Triple-A in August, he made one start in Binghamton going five shutout innings giving up just two hits; he didn’t issue a walk and struck out 13. This season at Double-A he made 11 starts going 4-1 with a 2.45 ERA, a 0.87 WHIP, and 77 strikeouts in 62.1 innings.  

39.) RHP – Bubba Chandler – Altoona Curve

Chandler also got called up to Triple-A last month, he had made one start in Altoona picking up the win going seven innings giving up one run on three hits; he didn’t walk anyone and struck out seven. At Altoona in 2024 he made 19 appearances with 16 of them coming as starts going 6-7 with a 3.70 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, and 94 strikeouts in 80.1 innings.

40.) OF – Chase DeLauter – Akron RubberDucks

DeLauter got moved up to Triple-A in August. He hit .351 with a double, four home runs, ten RBI, eight runs scored, and four walks. This season at Akron he hit .252 with a .769 OPS; he had six doubles, five home runs, 16 RBI, 18 runs scored, 14 walks, and one stolen base.

51.) LHP – Justin Crawford – Reading Fightin Phils

Crawford got promoted to Double-A this month appearing in nine games and hitting .351 with a .874 OPS; he had four doubles, four RBI, five runs scored, three walks, and five stolen bases.

57.) SS/OF – Jett Williams – Binghamton Rumble Ponies

Williams returned to Binghamton yesterday going 1-5. This season at Double-A he played in 12 games hitting .182 with a .640 OPS; he had three doubles, a triple, two RBI, nine runs scored, eight walks, and two stolen bases.

80.) OF/1B – Ryan Clifford – Binghamton Rumble Ponies

Clifford last month hit .262 with a .739 OPS; he had two doubles, two home runs, 12 RBI, eight runs scored, 15 walks, and one stolen base. This season he is hitting .227 with a .789 OPS; he has 16 home runs and 58 RBI.

83.) OF – Zac Veen – Hartford Yard Goats

Veen missed August at Hartford due to an injury and following his activation he was promoted to Triple-A. This season at Hartford in 36 games he hit .268 with a .816 OPS; he had five doubles, two triples, five home runs, 14 RBI, 24 runs scored, 16 walks, and ten stolen bases.

85.) OF – Yanquiel Fernandez – Hartford Yard Goats

Fernandez was promoted to Triple-A in August he played in four games at Hartford before the call-up hitting .375 with three doubles, a home run, an RBI, two runs scored, and one walk. This season at Hartford he hit .283 with a .778 OPS; he had 17 doubles, a triple, ten home runs, 46 RBI, 40 runs scored, 26 walks, and one stolen base.

87.) 2B – Adael Amador – Hartford Yard Goats

Amador in August hit .250 with a .728 OPS; he had two doubles, one triple, three home runs, 16 RBI, 13 runs scored, ten walks, and six stolen bases. This season he is hitting .219 with a .696 OPS; he has 12 home runs and 47 RBI.

88.) OF – Spencer Jones – Somerset Patriots

Jones last month hit .326 with a .903 OPS; he had nine doubles, one triple, two home runs, 17 RBI, 11 runs scored, nine walks, and three stolen bases. This season he is hitting .259 with a .771 OPS; he has 14 home runs, 71 RBI, 62 runs scored, and 24 stolen bases.

93.) OF – Enrique Bradfield – Bowie Baysox

Bradfield joined Bowie in August hitting .286 with a .796 OPS; he had two doubles, two triples, five RBI, 14 runs scored, ten walks, and eight stolen bases.

96.) RHP – Chase Hampton – Somerset Patriots

Hampton returned to Somerset in August before hitting the 7-day injured list. He made two starts posting a 0.00 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and four strikeouts in 5.2 innings.

HM.) 3B – Cayden Wallace – Harrisburg Senators

Wallace was acquired at the trade deadline but is on the 60-day injured list so has not appeared in a game yet.

HM.) SS/2B – Diego Velasquez – Richmond Flying Squirrels

Velazquez hit .303 in August with a .701 OPS; he had one double, one triple, 16 RBI, six runs, seven walks, and three stolen bases. This season at Richmond he’s hitting .300 with a .730 OPS; two doubles, a triple, a home run, 18 RBI, seven

HM.) LHP – Adam Macko – New Hampshire Fisher Cats

Macko is a rehab assignment, this season in New Hampshire he’s made 15 starts going 5-4 with a 4.42 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP, and 86 strikeouts in 77.1 innings.
