The Detroit Tigers this offseason to this point have only signed a starting pitcher Alex Cobb until today as they’ve signed an infielder and are bringing in Gleybar Torres on a one-year, $15 million contract.

Gleybar Torres

Torres just turned 28 years old and has spent his first seven big league seasons with the New York Yankees posting a slash line of .265/.334/.441 with a .774 OPS; he has 154 doubles, four triples, 138 home runs, 441 RBI, 460 runs scored, 53 stolen bases, and 333 walks. This past season he posted a slash line of .257/.330/.378 with a .709 OPS; he hit 27 doubles, and 15 home runs, drove in 63 runs, scored 80 runs, stole four bases, and walked 65 times. He had a great ALCS this past season hitting .364 with an .809 OPS; he had a double, two RBI, and five runs scored. He finished third in Rookie of the Year voting in 2018 and is a two-time All-Star.

Torres will likely play second base which gives the Tigers an infield of Colt Keith, Torres, Javier Baez, and Jace Jung at third base.
