Detroit Tigers Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Detroit Tigers are about to start their series finale against the Cleveland Guardians. The Tigers dropped the first two games of the series to the Guardians and have been outscored 11-5. The Tigers are also 4-6 in their last ten games and are averaging 4.9 runs per game while also allowing 4.3 runs per game. Ahead of today’s game, the Tigers activated right-handed pitcher Paul Sewald from the 60-day injured list. Sewald is available for today’s game. The Tigers designated right-handed pitcher Jose Urquidy for assignment, and the club is planning to option him to Triple-A Toledo tomorrow. They also granted the release of right-handed pitcher Codi Heuer.

Paul Sewald

Sewald, in 18 games this season with the Guardians, went 1-1. He had two saves, a 4.70 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts in 15.1 innings. He made five rehab appearances at High-A and at Triple-A, posting a 1.93 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP, and four strikeouts in 4.2 innings.

Jose Urquidy

Urquidy has appeared in two games for the Tigers this season, posting a 7.71 ERA, a 3.00 WHIP, and three strikeouts in 2.1 innings. In ten rehab appearances, he went 1-1 with a 3.20 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts in 19.2 innings.

Codi Heuer

Heuer has appeared in two games for the Tigers, posting a 5.40 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and four strikeouts in 3.1 innings. In nine minor league games, he went 0-1. He posted a 1.93 ERA, a 0.75 WHIP, and nine strikeouts in 9.1 innings.
