The Detroit Tigers will begin a crucial nine-game stretch as they’ll face the Cleveland Guardians on the road this weekend for three games, then head to Houston for three, with the Astros finally three games against the first-place Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park. The Tigers have won three straight series to start June. They will be active over the coming days with Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize returning during the series against Cleveland. Today they made three six moves in total. They reinstated closer Kenley Jansen from the 15-day injured list. The Tigers also selected the contract of newly acquired reliever Jacob Waguespack. They also added outfielder James Outman, who they claimed off waivers. To make room for the three, they optioned right-handed relievers Beau Brieske and Brenan Hanifee to Triple-A Toledo. They also designated infielder Zack Short for assignment.
