Chicago White Sox Acquire Luis Castillo from Seattle Mariners

The Chicago White Sox are reportedly acquiring right-handed pitcher Luis Castillo from the Seattle Mariners. The White Sox are sending reliever Setanthony Dominguez, outfielder Nolan Jones, and catching prospect Boston Smith to the Mariners. The White Sox are taking on all of Castillo’s contract.

Castillo, this season in 20 appearances with 17 coming as starts, is 3-9. He has a 5.06 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and 86 strikeouts in 99.2 innings. Dominguez, in 42 games, is 4-3 with 12 saves, a 4.10 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, and 45 strikeouts in 37.1 innings.

Jones, in 90 games between two different teams at Triple-A, is hitting .257 with a .807 OPS. He has 16 doubles, a triple, 14 home runs, 59 RBI, and 52 runs scored. In Triple-A for the White Sox, he’s hitting .231 with a .752 OPS. He has seven doubles, six home runs, 28 RBI, and 20 runs scored. Smith, across three levels, has appeared in 78 games, hitting .291 with a 1.037 OPS. He has seven doubles, three triples, 22 home runs, 58 RBI, and 67 runs scored. He was the White Sox’s 15th-ranked prospect.
