MLB Game Recap

The Guardians attacked the Red Sox in the first inning putting up a four-spot. The Red Sox would start a rally in the fifth inning. Marcelo Mayer singled home a run to get Boston on the board. Caleb Durbin would double home a run and Jarren Duran would drive home Mayer on a sacrifice fly. Durbin would be stranded as the tying run. The Guardians then shut down the Red Sox the rest of the way. Tyler Samaniego got the start as the opener allowing all four runs on six hits, he didn’t issue a walk and struck out two. Brayan Bello pitched the rest of the game allowing four hits, no walks, and striking out five.

Standout Performer

Marcelo Mayer contributed on two of the three runs scored by the Red Sox. He went 2-4 on the night.

Key News & Notes

The Red Sox have solved the Brayan Bello issue. Their new issue is the opener’s struggles. The openers have been Jovani Moran or Tyler Samaniego. They’ve gone 0-3 in four games with a 20.25 ERA, a 1.67 WHIP, and eight strikeouts in four innings. Brayan Bello when he has an opener is 1-0 with a 0.71 ERA, a 0.91 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts in 25.1 innings. For the opener next time through maybe giving Tyron Guerrero or even Danny Couloumbe a look as options to see if the situation can get fixed. Right now it’s a waste of what Bello is providing.
