Atlanta Braves Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Atlanta Braves play the second game of their three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds tonight. The Braves adjusted their bullpen ahead of tonight’s game as they optioned right-handed pitcher Dane Dunning to Triple-A Gwinnett. The Braves recalled left-handed pitcher Austin Cox from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Dane Dunning

Dunning, since joining the Braves, has appeared in four games, posting a 14.29 ERA, a 4.86 FIP, a 1.77 WHIP, and six strikeouts in 5.2 innings. Before that, he made five appearances for the Texas Rangers, posting a 3.38 ERA, a 5.34 FIP, a 1.31 WHIP, and ten strikeouts in 10.2 innings. In his career, he’s made 133 appearances with 102 of those coming as starts, going 28-32 with a 4.43 ERA, a 4.40 FIP, a 1.37 WHIP, and 533 strikeouts in 589 innings. He pitched out of the bullpen in the Rangers’ World Series. He went 1-1 with a 5.14 ERA, a 5.83 FIP, a 1.86 WHIP, and five strikeouts in seven innings.

Austin Cox

Cox, this season in six games for the Braves, is posting a 2.25 ERA, a 2.34 FIP, a 1.00 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in eight innings. In 14 games at Triple-A Gwinnett, with one of those coming as a start is 0-1. He posts a 4.35 ERA, a 1.60 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 20.2 innings. He pitched for the Royals‘ Triple-A affiliate, the Omaha Storm Chasers, this season. In 11 games, he went 2-1 with a 3.55 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts in 12.2 innings.
