Game Recap: Orioles Hit Six Home Runs; Rout Red Sox

The Baltimore Orioles came ready to roll tonight in the first game of their three-game series against the Boston Red Sox, winning 10-3 behind six home runs. The Orioles opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to three of the six home runs. Baltimore first got on the board when Gunnar Henderson hit a solo home run, then Adley Rutschman hit a two-run home run, and Dylan Beavers hit a solo home run as Baltimore led 4-0 after one. Boston scored one run in the top of the second on a solo home run by Wilyer Abreu. A fielder’s choice by Rutschman extended the Orioles lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the second inning.

Baltimore scored one run in the bottom of the third on a solo home run by Samuel Basallo. Rutschman homered and hit another two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth for the Orioles. Coby Mayo added a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. Rutschman added more with an RBI single in the seventh.

Brandon Young earned the win for the Orioles. The right allowed seven hits and three runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one. Brayan Bello took the loss for the Red Sox. The right went three and one-third innings, allowing eight runs on 13 hits, striking out two, and walking one.

Player of the Game

Adley Rutschman went 3-5 in the game. He drove six of the ten Baltimore runs. He finished with two home runs and scored two runs.
