Probable Starting Pitching

Yu Darvish (5-5, 5.38 ERA, 68 K) vs. Jameson Taillon (11-7, 3.68 ERA, 98 K)

Yu Darvish will toe the rubber in the win-or-go-home game three today against the Cubs. Darvish started 15 games this season for the Padres and pitched in 72 innings, allowing opponents a .245 average against. He made seven road starts with a 1-3 record and a 7.26 ERA on the road this year. Darvish pitched in 31 innings on the road, allowing 33 hits, 25 earned runs, seven home runs, and a .273 batting average against. This will be the first time Darvish has seen the Cubs since the 2024 season.

The Cubs will counter with righty, Jameson Taillon. Taillon battled through injuries this year and made 23 starts for the Chicago Cubs. Taillon finished with 11 wins, a 3.68 ERA, and a 1.06 WHIP over 129.2 innings pitched this year. He made ten home starts this year, going 5-2 in those starts with a 3.05 ERA across 59 innings pitched. Taillon made one start this year against the Padres. He pitched 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits, one walk, and striking out four in a no-decision back in April.
