Two Toronto Blue Jays Prospects Named Player of the Month

The Toronto Blue Jays minor league affiliates are wrapping up their season with High-A Vancouver being the only representative in the playoffs, they dropped game one last night 4-3, game two is tonight with game three on Friday, if necessary, game four is Saturday and game five is Sunday. In August the four affiliates combined to go 48-61 and were outscored 553-528. Triple-A Buffalo went 10-18 and were outscored 136-159. Double-A New Hampshire went 10-17 and were outscored 107-139. High-A Vancouver went 15-12 and outscored their opponent 145-115. Finally, Single-A Dunedin went 13-14 and scored 140 runs but allowed 140 runs. The Blue Jays had two prospects named Player of the Month for their respective leagues, first was outfielder Alan Roden who took home Hitter of the Month in the International League at Triple-A, he hit .354 with a 1.005 OPS; he had seven doubles, two triples, four home runs, 16 RBI, 21 runs scored, ten walks, and three stolen bases. The other prospect is shortstop Arjun Nimmala who took home Hitter of the Month honors in the Florida State League for Dunedin, he hit .296 with a .871 OPS; he had seven doubles, one triple, five home runs, 17 RBI, 18 runs scored, four walks, and two stolen bases.

OF – Alan Roden

Roden was drafted in the third round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Creighton. In his first season, he played at Dunedin playing in 25 games hitting .233 with a .685 OPS; he had four doubles, one home run, nine RBI, 17 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 17 walks. Last season he played at Vancouver and New Hampshire playing in 115 games hitting .317 with a .890 OPS; he had 29 doubles, two triples, ten home runs, 68 RBI, 92 runs scored, 24 stolen bases, and 68 walks. In 2024 he’s played at New Hampshire and Buffalo playing in 117 games hitting .290 with a .849 OPS; he has 25 doubles, three triples, 14 home runs, 69 RBI, 67 runs scored, 14 stolen bases, and 58 walks.

SS – Arjun Nimmala

Nimmala was drafted 20th overall in the 2023 MLB Draft out of Strawberry Crest High School in Dover, Florida. In 2023 following being drafted he played for Toronto’s rookie league team playing in nine games hitting .200 with a .820 OPS; he had a double, a triple, three RBI, seven runs scored, a stolen base, and 14 walks. This season between the rookie league and Dunedin he’s played in 90 games hitting .232 with a .807 OPS; he has 20 doubles, seven triples, 17 home runs, 47 RBI, 63 runs scored, nine stolen bases, and 39 walks.
