Two Stars Hit by Pitch in Same Game; Both Leave Game

The Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Guardians wrap up their three-game series this afternoon. The Blue Jays took game one 10-6, and Cleveland won the middle game last night 5-4. The Blue Jays currently lead the game 3-0 behind a two-RBI single by Nathan Lukes. The third run came via an error. In the top of the third, a pitch hit Toronto first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on the arm. He stayed in the game but left after the inning with a right forearm contusion.

Davis Schneider replaced Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the lineup. Schneider went to second base as the Blue Jays moved the infield around. Ernie Clement went from shortstop to first base, and Andres Gimenez went from second base to shortstop.

In the bottom of the fourth on the first pitch, Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman hit Jose Ramirez with a pitch on the side. The umpire warned both benches. Ramirez would stay in the game as he stole second base. In the next half inning, Nolan Jones replaced Ramirez. Jones went to left field, Lane Thomas moved from right field to center field, Angel Martinez went from center field to second base, and Daniel Schneemann went from second base to third base.

The Blue Jays will next head to Boston for a three-game series this weekend against the Boston Red Sox. The Guardians will next welcome in the St. Louis Cardinals for a three-game series this weekend.
