The San Diego Padres will have two representatives at this season’s Futures Game. The game will take place on July 13 at 1:15 PCT. The two representatives are in the Top 100 prospects by ITD with the first one being a young phenom catcher Ethan Salas and the other is a pitcher with LHP Robby Snelling getting the call.
C – Ethan Salas
Salas is the sixth-ranked prospect overall by ITD. The Padres signed him as an international free agent. He’s in his second season in the San Diego system, he has played in 130 games hitting .220 with a .662 OPS; he has 24 doubles, four triples, ten home runs, 65 RBI, 60 runs scored, 66 walks, and 11 stolen bases. This season he’s played at High-A with Fort Wayne playing in 64 games he’s hitting .191 with a .566 OPS; he has 11 doubles, two triples, one home run, 24 RBI, 20 runs scored, 36 walks (T-15th in Midwest League), and six stolen bases.
LHP – Robby Snelling
Snelling is the 24th overall ranked prospect by ITD. He was drafted with the 39th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. He’s made 35 starts over his time in the Padres system going 12-11 with a 3.55 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, and 167 strikeouts in 164.2 innings. This season at Double-A San Antonio he’s made 13 starts (T-11th in Texas League) going 1-8 with a 6.49 ERA, a 1.66 WHIP (22nd in Texas League), and 49 strikeouts in 61 innings (23rd in Texas League).
