Twins Option Jair Camargo to Triple-A: Latest Roster Changes

The Minnesota Twins have announced four roster moves today ahead of their Grapefruit league game with the Detroit Tigers. The moves were highlighted with Jair Camargo being optioned to Triple-A where he will play for the ST. Paul Saints.

Jair Camargo – C

The Twins have optioned Camargo to Triple-A where he will start the year with the ST. Paul Saints. Camargo will begin his year in St. Paul after a slow start this spring. He had 18 at-bats with two hits finishing with a .111 batting average. Camargo played in five games last year for the Twins without registering a hit with three strikeouts. Over 81 games in the minors last year across three levels he was only able to record a .223 batting average on the year.

Dameury Pena – SS

The Twins have assigned Pena to the roster ahead of today’s game with the Tigers. Pena spent last year playing for the Twins’ rookie ball team. In 36 games, he scored 25 runs, four doubles, one triple, three home runs, and 18 RBIs. He finished rookie ball with a .282 batting average and a slash line of .386/.410/.796.

Amilcar Vasquez – C

The Twins have assigned Vasquez to the roster ahead of today’s game against the Tigers. He has spent the past four years at the rookie ball level for the Twins. Last year was his best year yet. In 22 games played, he was able to record a .317 batting average with a slash line of .379/.367/.746.

Richardo Pena – C

The Twins have assigned Richardo Pena to the roster today ahead of the game with the Tigers. Last year, Pena played in 33 games with the Twins Florida rookie ball team. He hit one home run and had 12 RBIs. He finished with a .360 batting average and a slash line of .481/.488/.969
