Toronto Blue Jays Acquire Shane Bieber

The 2025 Trade Deadline is today, with all trades allowed until 6:00 PM EST. The Toronto Blue Jays this morning addressed their starting rotation; they are acquiring right-handed pitcher Shane Bieber from the Cleveland Guardians. The Blue Jays are sending their fifth-ranked prospect, right-handed pitcher Khal Stephen, to the Guardians. Bieber is currently rehabbing as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. In four rehab assignments, he is posting a 1.59 ERA, a 0.71 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 11.1 innings. The deal is pending medical review.

Shane Bieber

Bieber last season before being injured was 2-0 in two starts with a 0.00 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts in 12 innings. In 136 career appearances, with 134 of those coming as starts, he is 62-32 with a 3.22 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP, and 958 strikeouts in 843 innings. He won the Cy Young in 2020 and is a two-time All-Star.

Khal Stephen   

Stephen, this season in his first season in the Blue Jays system, is 9-1 with a 2.06 ERA, a 0.91 WHIP, and 99 strikeouts in 91.2 innings.
