The Boston Red Sox had three prospects earn Minor League Player of the Week honors. Two pitchers of the week and one hitter.
Portland Pitcher Claims Pitcher of the Week
First is right-handed pitcher Blake Wehunt, who earned Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honors with the Portland Sea Dogs. Wehunt got the ball on Sunday against Hartford. He picked up the win, going six scoreless innings, allowing a hit, no walks, and striking out eight. He improved to 3-4 in 11 starts with a 3.77 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, and 57 strikeouts in 43 innings. Wehunt’s next start will likely be on Saturday against the Altoona Curve.

Greenville Drive Sweep South Atlantic League Players of the Week
The other two minor leaguers to earn player of the week honors both came from the Greenville Drive in the South Atlantic League in High-A. Corner infielder Antonio Anderson earned Hitter of the Week honors, while left-handed pitcher Dylan Brown earned Pitcher of the Week honors. Anderson went 11-22 with two doubles, three home runs, six RBI, and five runs scored. In 37 games this season he’s hitting .236 with a .732 OPS. He had five doubles, a triple, four home runs, 18 RBI, and 20 runs scored.
Brown got the start on Wednesday picking up a win going seven scoreless innings. He allowed two hits, no walks, and struck out 11. In 12 appearnaces with 11 of those coming as starts between Single-A and High-A he’s 4-5. He has a 3.34 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 81 strikeouts in 56.2 innings. In seven appearances with six coming as starts at Greenville he’s 2-4 with a 4.05 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and 49 strikeouts in 33.1 innings. Brown and Anderson will likely take the field tomorrow against Winston-Salem.
