Texas Rangers Roster Moves 5/28

Texas Rangers Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

Before the World Series rematch between the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Rangers announced several roster moves and injury updates. Rangers ace Nathan Eovaldi makes his triumphant return to the mound tonight! Previously thought to be pitching a rehab assignment tonight, it has been announced that Eovaldi will skip a rehab start and return to the Rangers instead. Relief pitcher Yerry Rodriguez has been optioned back to the Round Rock Express in a corresponding move. Eovaldi will be on a pitch count tonight, but manager Bruce Bochy declined to set a hard limit. Nevertheless, it will be good to see him pitch again!

Eovaldi’s return is not the only celebrated return today. The Rangers also announced that rookie Wyatt Langford has finished his rehab assignment with the Round Rock Express and is returning to the Major League club. He is being activated off the 10-day injured list today. However, the good news of the day is overshadowed by the news that Langford’s fellow rookie outfielder Evan Carter will be trading places with him. Carter will be placed on the 10-day injured list with a lumbar strain.

Injury Updates

Max Scherzer, Jon Gray, and Josh Sborz are all progressing through their rehab programs. Scherzer threw a light bullpen on Saturday and Monday and is expected to throw a full bullpen on Wednesday, May 29th. Jon Gray was expected to begin throwing off a mound today, and Sborz is scheduled to throw a bullpen session sometime during the weekend.

The Texas Rangers have a very long and equally impressive lineup on their injured list. The Rangers will be almost unstoppable once everyone in this lineup is healthy. Below is a list of currently injured Rangers, their injuries, and their most up-to-date status.
