Texas Rangers general manager Chris Young has confirmed that the club has agreed to one-year contracts with David Robertson and Travis Jankowski. To make room for these two veterans on the 40-man roster, outfielder J.P. Martinez was traded to the Atlanta Braves, and right-handed pitcher Daniel Duarte was designated for assignment. The club acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Tyler Owens in the trade with the Braves.
RHP – David Robertson
The New York Yankees drafted him in the 17th round of the 2006 Amateur Draft. Debut on June 29th, 2008, for the Yankees. Fifteen years in the Majors with the Yankees (2008-2014, 2017-2018), Chicago White Sox (2015-2017), Philadelphia Phillies (2019, 2022), Tampa Bay Rays (2012), Chicago Cubs (2022), New York Mets (2023), and the Miami Marlins (2023). 2.90 ERA, 793 appearances, 804.1 IP, 63-42 W/L record, 175 saves, 2.97 FIP, 1.159 WHIP, 0.8 HR/9, 3.7 BB/9, 11.8 SO/9 and a career WAR of 19.9.
OF – Travis Jankowski
The San Diego Padres drafted him in the 1st round of the 2012 Amateur Draft. Debut on August 21st, 2015. Nine years in the Majors with the Padres (2015-2019), Cincinnati Reds (2020), Philadelphia Phillies (2021), New York Mets (2022), Seattle Mariners (2022), and the World Series Champion Texas Rangers (2023). He slashed a career .241/.327/.314 with 193 runs, 317 hits, 47 doubles, ten triples, ten home runs, 84 RBIs, 91 stolen bases, 161 walks, .641 OPS, and a career WAR of 3.9. Jankowski was instrumental in the success of the 2023 World Series Champion Texas Rangers.
RHP – Tyler Owens
The Atlanta Braves drafted him in the 13th round of the 2019 Amateur Draft. Owens has yet to debut in the major leagues. He has spent the past four seasons within the Braves farm system, playing for their A, A+, and AA teams. 4.37 ERA, 77 appearances, 169 IP, 5-15 W/L record, nine saves, 1.426 WHIP, 0.8 HR/9, 3.6 BB/9, 9.7 SO/9.
