The Texas Rangers open the season in Philadelphia on March 26th. Today, they announced three roster moves ahead of their game with the Dodgers this afternoon. They optioned two plays to their Minor League team to start their seasons, and sent one Veteran to Triple-A.

Willie MacIver
The Texas Rangers have optioned Catcher Willie MacIver to Triple-A to start his season with the Round Rock Express. MacIver struggled at the plate this spring. In 19 at-bats through 12 games, he had three hits with one double and four RBI. In those 12 games played, he walked ten times, scoring eight runs and only striking out four times. He spent most of last season playing for the Las Vegas Aviators, the Athletics Triple-A affiliate. The Rangers claimed him off waivers back on November 5th. Last season in 33 games with the Athletics, he slashed .186/.252/.324. MacIver had seven home runs, 56 RBI, and a slash line of .362/.426/.541 in 54 games last year for the Aviators.
Jose Corniell
Jose Corniell, the right-handed pitcher, has been optioned to the Frisco RoughRiders to start his season in Double-A. He pitched one inning for the Rangers this spring, giving up one walk. Corniell appeared in one game for the Rangers in 2025, throwing 1.2 innings. He took the loss after giving up three earned runs. He allowed a total of four runs on three hits. Additionally, he had one walk, one home run, and one strikeout. He will head back to Double-A, where he recorded a 0.45 ERA in six starts last season, suffering one loss on the year.
Alexis Diaz
Alexis Diaz was sent to the Round Rock Express today after being designated for assignment earlier this week. Diaz struggled mightily this spring for the Rangers. In three games pitched, he threw 1.2 innings of work with a 43.20 ERA and 4.20 WHIP. He recorded one strikeout this spring for the Rangers.
