Texas Rangers Acquire O’Hoppe and Silseth from Los Angeles Angels

The Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels struck an intra-division trade this evening. The Rangers are acquiring catcher Logan O’Hoppe and right-handed pitcher Chase Silseth. The Angels are getting back shortstop Angel Arredondo in the deal. The Rangers optioned Logan O’Hoppe to Triple-A Round Rock and promoted Chase Silseth to the active roster.

Silseth in 47 appearances this season in 3-2. He has a 2.72 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, and 48 strikeouts in 39.2 innings. He’s made 82 appearances, with 17 of those coming as starts. He’s 8-7 with a 4.12 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, and 153 strikeouts in 139.2 innings.

O’Hoppe, in 75 games this season for the Angels, is hitting .209 with a .565 OPS. He has eight doubles, four home runs, 23 RBI, and 20 runs scored. In 386 big league games, he’s hitting .227 with a .671 OPS. He has 39 doubles, two triples, 57 home runs, 153 RBI, and 143 runs scored.

Arrendondo is at Single-A Hickory. In 85 games, he’s hitting .243 with a .763 OPS. He has 14 doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 44 RBI, and 50 runs scored. He’s appeared in 160 minor league games, hitting .242 with a .738 OPS. He has 23 doubles, four triples, nine home runs, 71 RBI, and 96 runs scored.
