St. Louis Cardinals Roster Moves 4/21

St. Louis Cardinals Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Cardinals head into Sunday with a 9-12 record, trying to win the series finale with the Milwaukee Brewers to avoid a three-game sweep. They lost the first two games to the division rivals. Next, they host the Arizona Diamondbacks for a three-game series. Before today’s game, the team announced four roster moves.

RHP – Nick Robertson

The Cardinals recalled Robertson from the Memphis Redbirds today. He has pitched in six games for the Memphis Redbirds in Triple-A. He has yet to have a win or loss this year. He’s given up for hits and two earned runs over 6.1 innings. He has a 2.84 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP.

C – Pedro Pages

Pages was recalled from the Memphis Redbirds today ahead of the game. He’s played in six games with 18 at-bats with four hits. He has two doubles, one home run, two RBIs, five walks, and five strikeouts. This year, he has been slugging .222/.417/.500 with a .917 OPS.

OF – Victor Scott II

The Cardinals optioned Scott to the Memphis Redbirds today ahead of the game. He’s played in 20 games for the Cardinals this year and has three doubles and two RBIs. He’s slugging .085/.138/.136 with a .274 OPS on the year.

RHP – Andre Pallante

The Cardinals optioned Pallante to the Memphis Redbirds ahead of their series finale. Has pitched in nine games with one loss on the season. He’s worked in ten innings with a 6.30 ERA. He allowed 14 hits, seven earned runs, five walks, and struck out six.

Wrap up:

The Cardinals are off to a slow start this season and need some luck if they want to avoid repeating last season’s disappointing finish in dead last in the Central. Victor Scott II is a talented kid; he needs more time in Triple-A. Pallante wasn’t helping in the bullpen with his elevated ERA and will need to lower his hard contact in Triple-A if he plans to succeed with the big club. I am interested to see if Pages gets any time behind the plate as he’s had a decent year for the Redbirds and has been getting on base, which the Cardinals need right now as they need base runners.
