St. Louis Cardinals Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The St. Louis Cardinals were off yesterday but beat the Houston Astros Sunday 10-6 in Grapefruit League play. The team faces off against the Miami Marlins this afternoon and before the game, they announced three roster moves as they continue to manage the roster leading up to Opening Day. The Cardinals open their season on March 28th when they visit the Los Angeles Dodgers.

RHP – Angel Cuenca

Cuenca was assigned to the Cardinals roster before this afternoon’s game with the Marlins. Cuenca spent the last season playing for Palm Beach in the Florida State League. The six-foot-one 160-pound right-hand pitcher appeared in 31 games last season. He went 3-1 over 52.2 innings, with a 3-1 record, one save, two holds, 54 strikeouts, 18 walks, a 5.47 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP last season.

3B – Trey Paige

Paige was assigned to the Cardinals roster today ahead of the game against the Marlins. Paige played last season for the Palm Beach team in the Florida State League. Paige played in 21 games, 48 at-bats, five runs, five hits, eight RBIs, eight walks, and slashed .104/.246/.104 on the year.

C – Juan Pablo Cabrera

The Cardinal signed Juan Pablo Cabrera to a Minor League Contract today before the game with the Miami Marlins. He is a five-foot-eleven 185-pound catcher. Not much is known at this time on Cabrera waiting for a follow-up move to see where the Catcher will be assigned within the Cardinals organization.
