The Toronto Blue Jays will take on the San Diego Padres for three games this weekend. The Blue Jays are coming off a series win over the Yankees while the Padres are coming off a series win over the Brewers.

Probable Starting Pitchers

Game 1: Yariel Rodriguez (0-0, 2.45 ERA) vs. Matt Waldron (0-1, 3.14 ERA)

Rodriguez made his big league debut last Saturday going 3.2 innings giving up one run on four hits; he walked two and struck out six. Not a bad start for your first time out. Waldron will oppose Rodriguez and he is 0-1 with a 3.14 ERA, a 3.16 FIP, a 1.46 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts in 14.1 innings. His last start came against the Dodgers going five innings giving up one run on three hits; he walked four and struck out four. Waldron has never faced the Blue Jays in his career.

Game 2: Jose Berrios (3-0, 1.05 ERA) vs. TBD

Berrios gets the middle game, and he is 3-0 with a 1.05 ERA, a 3.65 FIP, a 0.97 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 25.2 innings. His last start came against the Rockies and he went seven innings, he didn’t allow a run on two hits; he walked two and struck out seven. In his career against the Padres, he is 0-2 with a 2.08 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in 13 innings. The Padres haven’t announced a starter, this was supposed to be Yu Darvish but he was just placed on the injured list.

Game 3: Chris Bassitt (2-2, 4.03 ERA) vs. Joe Musgrove (2-2, 6.29 ERA)

Bassitt is 2-2 with a 4.03 ERA, a 4.61 FIP, a 1.56 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts in 22.1 innings. Bassitt’s last start came against the Yankees going 6.1 innings giving up one run on four hits; he walked two and struck out five. In his career against the Padres, he is 1-2 in four starts with a 4.71 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and 28 strikeouts in 21 innings. Musgrove gets the finale and he is 2-2 with a 6.29 ERA, a 5.16 FIP, a 1.76 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts in 24.1 innings. In his last start against the Brewers, he went six innings giving up three runs on seven hits; he walked four and struck out three. In his career against Toronto, he is 2-0 with a 1.47 ERA, a 0.82 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts in 18.1 innings.
