Probable Starters:

Game 1: Logan Webb (0-0, 0.00 ERA) Vs Hunter Greene (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

The Giants will hand the ball to Logan Webb on opening day against the Reds. Webb made 33 starts last year for the Giants. He had a 2.95 FIP and a 1.231 WHIP last year. Webb won 13 games last year for the Giants. Webb is not the typical ace; he keeps the ball down and doesn’t overpower his opponents. Last year, he had a 7.6 K/9. Webb will face Hunter Greene, who takes the mound for the Reds. Greene made 26 starts and pitched 150.1 innings last year. He had a 3.47 FIP and a 1.018 WHIP in 2024. Greene, unlike Webb, is a power pitcher looking to overpower his opponents. Last year, he finished with 169 strikeouts and a 10.1 K/9.

Game 2: Justin Verlander (0-0, 0.00 ERA) Vs Nick Lodolo (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

New Giant Justin Verlander will take the ball in game two. Verlander signed as a free agent this offseason. He spent last year pitching for the Houston Astros after returning from injury. Verlander made 17 starts with a 4.78 FIP last season. He struck out 74 batters for a 7.4 K/9 over 90.1 innings pitched. The Reds will roll out Lefty Nick Lodolo in game two. Lodolo made 21 starts last year for the Reds with a 3.95 FIP.  He had a 9.5 K/9 and a 1.197 WHIP over 115.1 innings pitched.

Game 3: Robbie Ray (0-0, 0.00 ERA) Vs Nick Martinez (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Robbie Ray will take the mound for the Giants in the series finale in Cincinnati.  Ray started seven games for the Giants last year. He had a 4.96 FIP and a 1.141 WHIP over 30.2 innings pitched. Ray struck out 43 batters, finishing with a 12.6 K/9 last year. The Reds will hand Nick Martinez the ball in the final game of the three-game series.  Martinez appeared in 42 games, making 16 starts last year. He finished the year with a 3.21 FIP and a 1.026 WHIP over 142.1 innings. Martinez finished with a 7.3 K/9 last season.

San Francisco Giants

Willy Adames played 161 games last year for the Milwaukee Brewers. Adames came over to the Giants after signing a long-term deal with them in free agency. He had a 3.1 WAR in the year. Adames had a .251 batting average and a .794 OPS last season.  He added 33 doubles, 32 home runs, 104 RBIs, and 21 stolen bases last year.  In 13 games last year against the Reds, Adames hit .208 with six home runs, 16 RBIs, two steals, and scored 11 runs.

Cincinnati Reds

Elly De La Cruz played 160 games last year for the Reds. He recorded a 5.2 WAR over those games played last year. Cruz finished 2024 with a .259 batting average and a .809 OPS.  He hit 36 doubles, 10 triples, 25 home runs, stole 67 bases, and drove in 76 runners last year. In six games last year against the Giants Cruz had a .130 batting average with one home run, one RBI, four steals, and three runs scored last year.
