Probable Starting Pitchers

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. New York Mets

Game 1: Eduardo Rodriguez (1-2, 4.40 ERA) vs. David Peterson (1-1, 3.29 ERA)

Peterson, formerly an Oregon Duck, has kept a good ERA to begin the season. Last season, Peterson was near elite, posting a strong 2.90 ERA. The question is: can he turn back the clock, or will he tend towards his career mark of over four? The 32-year-old lefty Rodriguez, who’s been around the block, is after some career rejuvenation after an injury-riddled start to his time in Arizona.

Game 2: Corbin Burnes (0-1, 4.05 ERA) vs. Kodei Senga (3-1, 1.26 ERA)

Senga, the Japanese import in his third MLB season, is off to a great start and is currently in early Cy Young conversations. The owner of the mythical ghost fork doesn’t rack up strikeouts, but his ability to induce weak contact is what makes him such a dominant force. Likewise, the reputable Burnes doesn’t generate a ton of whiffs either, instead relying on pinpoint control for the duration of what has been a steadily strong career.

Game 3: Zac Gallen (1-4, 5.57 ERA) vs. Clay Holmes (3-1, 2.64 ERA)

A converted reliever, Holmes has already thrown almost half as many innings as a year ago. The right hander doesn’t throw a ton of innings by starting pitching standards, but the first year Met is still qualifying for wins. One pitcher in this series could be considered a strikeout pitcher, and that would be Gallen. The longtime member of the Diamondbacks has averaged more strikeouts than IP for almost his whole career
