Seattle Mariners Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Seattle Mariners begin a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs on Friday. The Mariners have gone through a rough patch of games. They went 13-14 in May and are currently 6-10 in the month of June. Prior to announcing their starting lineup on Friday, the Seattle Mariners made a roster move that will see Luke Raley activated off the IL. To make room for him, Rowdy Tellez will be DFA’d.

Luke raley

Luke Raley was placed on the IL with a right oblique strain back on April 30. In five rehab games with the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers, Raley hit .368/.400/.579 with Seven Hits, One Double, One Home Run, and Three RBI. Prior to his injury, Raley was struggling as he was hitting .206 with 10 runs, two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, and two stolen bases. Raley had a career year in his first season with the Mariners in 2024. He had hit .243 with 58 runs, 19 doubles, two triples, 22 home runs, 58 RBI, and 11 stolen bases. Getting a guy like Raley back will be a welcome sight for the Mariners. With Dominic Canzone doing well in the outfield, Manager Dan Wilson will be able to place his starting first baseman at first. Though he was not in the lineup on Friday for the first game in Chicago.

Tellez had become a fan favorite since the beginning of the season. His personality seemed to keep things light in the clubhouse and had been productive for the Mariners, albeit with a batting average of only .208. He added 20 runs, six doubles, 11 home runs, 27 RBI and 1 stolen base through 62 games with the Mariners this season. Tellez does not have to accept the outright assignment to the minors.
