The Seattle Mariners wrap up their third game series against the Athletics this afternoon. The Mariners dropped game one 7-6 to the A’s before winning 5-3 last night in the middle game. The Mariners will have Bryan Woo on the mound facing Gunnar Hoglund for the Athletics. Ahead of today’s game, Seattle activated outfielder Leody Taveras, whom they claimed off waivers yesterday. Taveras will start in right field today and bat seventh. To make room for Taveras, they optioned outfielder Rhylan Thomas to Triple-A Tacoma.

Taveras has appeared in 30 games this season for the Rangers, hitting .241 with a .601 OPS. He had three doubles, a triple, a home run, eight RBI, seven runs scored, six stolen bases, and two walks. Thomas played in three games with the Mariners, hitting .125 with a .450 OPS. He had a double, two RBI, two runs scored, and a walk. In 26 games with Tacoma, he hit .319 with a .724 OPS. He had a double, a home run, six RBI, 15 runs scored, six stolen bases, and six walks.

Leody Taveras

This is Taveras’ sixth season. He’s a career .240 hitter with a .661 OPS. He has 77 doubles, 12 triples, 39 home runs, 168 RBI, 206 runs scored, 72 stolen bases, and 123 walks. In 151 games last season, he hit .229 with a .641 OPS. He had 17 doubles, three triples, 12 home runs, 44 RBI, 59 runs scored, 23 stolen bases, and 42 walks.

Rhylan Thomas

Thomas joined the Mariners last season where in 47 games he hit .322 with a .738 OPS at Triple-A. He had six doubles, a home run, 18 RBI, 34 runs scored, ten stolen bases, and 13 walks.
