Colton Cowser was born in Houston, Texas, on March 20, 2000. He played high school baseball at Cypress Ranch High School in Cypress, TX. He was the 41st-ranked outfielder and the 234th-ranked overall player in Texas.

In his first two seasons in high school, Cowser hit .461 with 35 hits, eight doubles, four triples, 25 RBI, and 26 runs scored. In his junior year, he hit .441 with 49 hits, seven doubles, three triples, two home runs, 37 RBI, and 28 runs scored. In his senior year, he hit .411 with 53 hits, 11 doubles, five triples, five home runs, 38 RBI, and 48 runs scored. He finished his high school career hitting .415 with 115 hits, 21 doubles, eight triples, seven home runs, 81 RBI, and 84 runs scored.

Cowser was ranked the 411th outfielder in the country and in the top 1,000th ranked overall player.

Cowser entered the draft as the tenth-ranked player. Still, he would be selected fifth overall in the 2021 draft by the Baltimore Orioles after he finished his collegiate career with a slash line of .354/.460/.608 with a 1.067 OPS; he had 30 doubles, nine triples, 24 home runs, 112 RBI, 125 runs scored, 31 stolen bases, and 76 walks.

Colton Cowser Orioles Tenure

2021

After being drafted, Cowser started with the Orioles rookie league Orange team and played for Single-A Delmarva. In 32 games that season, he slashed .375/.490/.492 with a .982 OPS; he had eight doubles, two home runs, 34 RBI, 30 runs scored, seven stolen bases, and 25 walks.

2022

Cowser started the season ranked as the 98th overall prospect by Baseball America and 66th by MLB.com. He played for High-A Aberdeen, Double-A Bowie, and Triple-A Norfolk, where he combined to play in 139 games and slashed .278/.406/.469 with a .874 OPS; he had 36 doubles, two triples, 19 home runs, 66 RBI, 114 runs scored, 18 stolen bases, and 94 walks.

With the Orioles in 26 games, he slashed .115/.286/.148 with a .433 OPS; he had two doubles, four RBI, 15 runs scored, one stolen bases, and 13 walks.

ITD ranks Cowser as the 15th-ranked overall prospect in all baseball entering 2024 and the Orioles number two prospect. He will most likely start the season with the Orioles, and his time on the rankings may be short-lived this season.
