Chase Petty was born in Camden, New Jersey on April 4, 2003. He played high school baseball at Mainland Regional High School in Linwood, NJ. He was the number one ranked RHP and the top-ranked overall player in New Jersey. At Mainland in his senior year, he went 5-1 with a 1.15 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 48.2 innings. Petty was ranked the second RHP in the country and the ninth overall player. He committed to play college baseball at the University of Florida.

When Was Chase Petty Drafted?

Chandler was the 27th-ranked prospect entering the 2021 draft and the 15th-ranked high school prospect. He would end up being drafted by the Minnesota Twins with the 26th overall pick.

Chase Petty Professional Baseball Tenure

2021

Petty started with the Twins rookie league team appearing in two games and posting a 5.40 ERA and six strikeouts in five innings.

2022

Petty would be traded to the Cincinnati Reds for Sonny Gray and he pitched at Single-A Daytona and High-A Dayton. He appeared in 25 games with 20 of those as starts going 1-6 with a 3.48 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 98.1 innings.

Petty started at High-A Dayton again and jumped to Double-A Chattanooga. He started 18 games going 0-2 with a 1.72 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 68 innings.

Future                                                                   

ITD ranks Petty as the 95th overall prospect and the Reds fifth-ranked prospect. He is expected to start the season at Double-A.
