Ceddanne Rafaela was born in Willemstad, curacao, on September 18, 2000. Rafaela played for the Curacao team that made the 2012 Little League World Series. He would sign with the Red Sox as an International free agent in July 2017.

Rafaela started playing in the Dominican Summer League for the Red Sox, where he slashed .271/.326/.379 with a .705 OPS; he had nine doubles, two triples, three home runs, 28 RBI, 31 runs scored, 19 stolen bases, and 14 walks in 54 games.

2019

Rafaela played for the Red Sox rookie ball team and got promoted to Low-A Lowell, and he combined to slash .244/.319/.409 with a .727 OPS; he had one double, four triples, six home runs, 18 RBI, 30 runs scored, nine stolen bases, and 14 walks in 44 games combined.

2020

The 2020 minor league season was canceled due to Covid.

2021

Rafaela played at Single-A Salem, where he slashed .251/.305/.424 with a .729 OPS; he had 20 doubles, nine triples, ten home runs, 53 RBI, 73 runs scored, 23 stolen bases, and 25 walks in 102 games.

2022

Rafaela would play for High-A Greenville and Double-A Portland, combining to play in 116 games. He slashed .299/.342/.539 with a .880 OPS; he had 32 doubles, ten triples, 21 home runs, 82 runs scored, 28 stolen bases, and 26 walks. He also played in the future’s game and had a rough day, going 0-2 with two strikeouts.

2023

He started 2023 ranked as the 71st overall prospect by Baseball American and 86th by MLB.com. He played for Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester, where he slashed .302/.349/.520 with a .870 OPS; he had 31 doubles, three triples, 20 home runs, 79 RBI, 80 runs scored, 36 stolen bases, and 26 walks. He would also make his big-league debut playing in 28 games where he slashed .241/.281/.386 with a .666 OPS; he had six doubles, two home runs, five RBI, 11 runs scored, three stolen bases, and four walks.

Future

ITD ranks Rafaela as the Red Sox’s fourth Red Sox’s prospect and 75th overall prospect. Rafaela in 2024 could start at Triple-A, but it will depend on what the Red Sox do over the next few months; if there is a move and an outfielder ends up being traded, he could be starting in the outfield in 2024 for the Red Sox.
